lifestyle change through one cooked meal a day

this whole article is a wake up call. and for many who are "starting new" after this Labor Day weekend (myself included) maybe this is something that can easily be done.

Food Fight and Why America Is Fat | Strong Opinions @marksbirch: "If there is one positive change you can make to your lifestyle, it is this: replace one entire day’s worth of meals with home cooked food that is planned and made by yourself. If you already do this, then add another day. Then week by week, you can replace one outside meal or pre-processed, packaged food monstrosity with a home cooked meal. See how far you can get and I am going to bet that you feel significantly healthier and fulfilled in the process."

someone with a significant other should make a "love story" @foursquare list

The foursquare lists functionality is probably my favorite feature released (besides the Chadge) Finally, a place to easily curate and share lists from your To-Dos and make them shareable to your friends so they can follow along. A Yelper for awhile, I've always seen the use case for lists based off reviews and places your friends have been. You trust your friends and they curate a small grouping of places based on a theme. Makes planning that "big party for groups" or "outdoor venue" party much easier.

People have been creating some pretty bad ass lists that I've eagerly subscribed to on foursquare. The What's What in Brooklyn list, the Harry Potter Dream Tour list, and then Naveen's Hidden New York list that makes me want to immediately start exploring.

But I saw a list today that gave me an idea. Dennis Crowley posted his "a brief history of foursquare" list showing the places where him and Naveen began to code the service, the many happy hour joints the team frequents and other places that have inspired the company/co-founder along the way.

How fun. A sort of "time capsule" visit to the places that helped shape your memories. Foursquare lists can be used to tell a story---and quite well in fact. Read his list and you'll immediately get some insight into the making of foursquare.

I would LOVE for someone to create a "love story" foursquare list documenting the places on foursquare that helped document a relationship. Where they met. First date. First kiss. Engagement. Baby delivery. You name it. Heck- I basically just gave someone a romantic engagement idea. YOU'RE WELCOME :)

So, can someone please do it? And let me know please. Thanks :)

Facebook + Ticketmaster = Awesome

Attending Lollapalooza this year, you realize what a cluster seeing shows with friends can be. Take away that lack of cell service and the massive list of shows, it's really hard to meet up and jam out to your favorite bands with your friends.

And while this sort of behavior is expected with a music festival welcoming thousands of people to 7 stages - it shouldn't be for those one venue events. You SHOULD be able to organize going to an event around something (or someone) you like and easily sit near or with your friends.

Luckily - Ticketmaster saw this same opportunity and announced the next phase in event ticket purchasing. Ticketmaster yesterday announced the launch of its Facebook connectivity available on the interactive seat map that launched last year and is now used in more than 300 venues. Now you can pick exactly what seat you want, instead of the always interesting "Choose the Best Available" option. Now I see where my friends are, and if I want to sit near them.

Or, for those who know that their ex boyfriend may ALSO be going to their favorite band - you can sit far far away and not have to worry about running into them at the beer stand :)

I'm hoping this opens the eyes to other event/booking companies that can use this. I'm looking at you airline providers. SXSW is coming up with a bunch of people and friends booking to the same location. How great would it be to know who and where they're sitting?

Shop Here: Chloe + Isabel (@chloeandisabel)

Being a girl that usually runs out of the house focused more on grabbing her iPhone than figuring out what earrings match the outfit, I'm not one to rave about a jewelry site.

Chloe + Isabel fits me perfectly. From the price (average price is $25-65 for mos items with a few over $100) to the style that fits different women: Bohemian Summer, Rocker Chic, Retro Glam and Petals and Paillettes - the jewelry is everything you need for a wedding to a weekend in Chicago at a music festival.

Lollapalooza 2011 - mud, music and memories: the recap

When my friend Sarah asked me to join her for a 3 day weekend at Lollapalooza tacked on to a 1 1/2 day road trip from NY to Chicago to hit up bbq joints on the way: the obvious answer was yes. Packed up my hippie headbands and sandals, took off a few days from work and signed off to hit the road like pioneers...with GPS.

1 full day of driving, 2 pulled pork sandwiches and a stop over in Toledo, OH we arrived in Chicago to the lovely Park Hyatt, brought the "kids" up to the room and changed into our gear to head over to the festival. If you've never been before, I'd say go. If you love music and being outside and $5 Bud Lights and a lot of people in the age range of 17-23 and people who will dive in mud and the smell of sweat and marijuana and whiskey mixed together: THIS IS YOUR JAM :)

Kidding aside, this was a great time. Grace Potter. White Lies. Foster the People. Muse. Fitz and the Tantrums. Ellie Goulding. Eminem (the best performance of the weekend and perhaps my life)City and Colour. Cee-Lo (not impressed) and Foo Fighters amidst the pouring rain. (Pro tip: If it starts raining, don't go back to your hotel and shower and think that it won't rain again when you come back. Also: MUD.)

Some pro tips:
  • Wear boots/closed toe shoes. Sarah did and she was genius. My feet looked like muddy messes by the end of every day and I felt disgusting.
  • Hydrate in the morning pre-show. it gets hot and you may pass out. People did. I saw them.
  • Try and see a band or two you have never seen before. I mean, that's why you're there right?
  • Bud Lights go through you quickly. Port-o-pottys are your best friend. HAND SANITIZER IS NEARBY.
  • Dance in the moshpit during Eminem.
  • Eat brunch at amazing places pre-show, stock up your belly like a chipmunk and don't worry about food for the rest of the day.
  • Go with friends who will see the band you want to see and vice versa.
  • Cabs are useless in Chicago after the show. Plan on walking.
  • Stay at the Park Hyatt. It's amazing.
  • Don't bother trying to meet up with people. Cell service is at a bare minimum. No matter what carrier.
  • Wear your best hippie headband and flowy skirts and dresses. Why not?
  • Dance. Your. Pants. Off.
