in new york...

  • the best dinners are the ones that begin at 10pm
  • glass or bottle? bottle
  • you do not acknowledge the drunk 21 year olds in the cab next to you who are trying to get you to "party" with them
  • it's ok, with some friends, to leave your iPhone on the table and pull up ridiculous text messages from men
  • your doormen are your biggest judges and your best friends
  • you can take a cab home and look up and feel like a little kid
  • texting friends to make sure they got home OK is natural
  • making one new friend a night is normal, expected and encouraged

I'm taking some vacation

This about sums it up. I head to Vegas next Friday for 4 days with my college friends. Come back for 2 days to check in and get things done at work and then hop in a car with Sarah and Chantelle to Lollapalooza. Whoo!

Dear Summer's Eve...

Please report your brand metrics and sales post campaign on the talking hand vagina you decided to put in your advertising that would really mesh well with the female audience. My jaw dropped 2 seconds in.

I Twitterized myself

Pretty accurate. Especially on the connections. Reece and Chantelle being in my top word topics. That also makes sense. Make yours here.

Broadway: The Book of Mormon

I saw it. I finally saw it. The multi-TONY nominated/winner/epic spectacular Broadway show of the year that is The Book of Mormon. How was it? FUCKING AMAZING. And I swear and use the profanity to warn you and get you ready. If you can't deal with that word in a blog post, than you won't be able to see the play.

The play is vulgar, crude, offensive. It is also one of the top 3 best Broadway shows I've ever seen. Following the story of two Mormon missionaries in Uganda the songs (with amazing harmonies btw) tell of the history of Mormonism, the F bomb dropped a bazillion times and religion discussed in as many offensive ways as possible. I laughed through the entire thing. So did the entire audience. Josh Gad is hilarious. Andrew Rannells is refreshing and a superstar talent. He'll go far in the Broadway rotation for sure.

I'd say "go buy tickets" but they are apparently sold out until the end of the year. Still, I'd try and see what you can get if somehow they become available. Tickets have already been announced to be on sale until September of 2012, next year.

And here's a preview of a musical number from this year's TONY Awards:

this looks similar

Facebook announced video conferencing today. Like that thing that Skype did 7/8 years ago. Here's the spot for it. And then Apple's Facetime.

hat tip to Garrett for the videos.

I like @4sqtransit but...

I love all of the hacks that developers have worked on with the foursquare API. My favorite being 4squareand7yearsago where you get a time capsule delivered to your email every day letting you know what you did last year.

One other one that COULD be really useful: 4sqtransit. As they say "4sqtransit is a simple service that delivers real-time public transit information to your phone whenever you check in near a transit stop on Foursquare." So ideally, you'd know when the A train is leaving based on your location. SUPER convenient...if they got the timing right.

When I get to a place and "check in" on foursquare- I'm usually planning on staying there for at least a short while. Thus the next 20 minutes of train schedules isn't really useful to me. I checked in, I'm staying, not leaving.

Any updates planned for this? This tweet looks like you can reply now with UPDATE to the service and they'll send you a new schedule. That's cool. Or, even if you got a text 45 minutes later, or picked a time or something.
